The teacher can explain that there is another way to deliver the news without anyone needing to leave the room - by sending the message through cyberspace using the computer. If the teacher is able to, she/he can show students an e-mail that the teacher can send to another teacher. If possible the other teacher could send a quick replay back so the children can see how quickly the reply can possible come right back and how quickly the message was actually delivered. The teacher can ask the students Where did my message go? How did it happen?
How could you send a message to another teacher, the principal, nurse, etc...

Teacher could tell students to turn to neighbor when the video is completely finished and explain one online safety rule (4 are presented). The students could also explain who is a trusted adult or give examples.

Next, the teacher needs to point to the FBI safety rules poster that is hanging in the computer lab and go over the rules to help answer the above questions. The teacher can have students read the specific rule and go over what it means. There should be discussions about the words uncomfortable, permission, personal/identifying information, etc... to help students better understand the rules.

The teacher can then distribute the activity sheet called Whose Property is this? The students should be given a few minutes to do the sheet on their own and then the teacher can go over their answers and have discussions of why they put a check mark or why they didn't.
